“Have you outgrown Sage 50?” Now I don’t know about you, but most of my life being told I had “outgrown” something usually meant I had put on a little too much timber! In most cases, in my own experience, it has always been the start of a negative comment. When it comes to software, however, how brilliant to ‘outgrow‘ a product. You and your business are doing so well that the accounts solution you started with just doesn’t fit anymore! You are bigger, stronger and wiser, soaring to new heights that your current product just can’t accommodate for. To be in a situation such as this can only mean great things are to follow.

Starting out with Sage 50

At the start of your journey, you were probably generating invoices from word and trying to create T accounts on excel. Looking back I doubt you ever thought you’d be at a stage where you had outgrown Sage 50, your first accounts software. A position you would have never been in without the help of Sage 50. This starter product is a fantastic solution for those businesses that are just beginning to take off. Sage 50 provides a business with the starting blocks to successfully manage their finances and also has the capabilities to grow with you.

Out of the box, you can expect to complete daily tasks in Sage 50 with ease. Actions such as invoice processing, bank reconciliation, and MTD VAT returns are all features included within the software. As well as your basic necessities, Sage 50 does actually have some pretty impressive features. A few of these consist of Multi-Company access, Sage Pay Invoice Payments, Cash Flow Management Monitor and Office 365 integration. Being able to use aspects like these make Sage 50 feel like a much larger product.

Outgrowing Sage 50

As robust as Sage 50 is, unfortunately, if you’re growing, it won’t last forever! This software was designed to withstand up to 1.5 million transactions. I know it sounds like a lot, but as a successful operating business, this number doesn’t actually seem all that big. To put this number into perspective, Sage 200 was built with the capability to allow for over 9 million transactionsNow that’s the kind of numbers you want to be hitting!

So, how do you know when you have outgrown Sage 50? Simply put, you will just know! Here at itas we have many customers coming to us wanting more from their software. In most cases, the implementation of an add-on can really help prolong the use of Sage 50. However, there is always going to be a time where the only option is to upgrade. Typically the reason for moving on from a product such as Sage 50 is the need for heightened data analysis.
