Sage Intacct’s 2026 R3 release brings a range of enhancements designed to help finance teams work smarter, make faster decisions, and get more value from their data. From AI-powered automation to improved reporting capabilities, this release focuses on practical updates that can make a real difference to day-to-day operations.

A New Era of Financial Intelligence

One of the most exciting developments is the Financial AI Assistant (FIA), allowing users to interact with financial data using natural language. Instead of navigating multiple screens or building reports, finance teams can ask questions and receive meaningful insights quickly.

This moves finance beyond simply asking “What happened?” towards “What needs my attention?” and “What should I do next?”

The Financial AI Assistant is part of Sage’s Early Adopter Programme and is expected to be automatically available for all existing Sage Intacct customers to try by the end of September 2026. This gives finance teams the opportunity to explore how AI can support everyday financial analysis and decision-making.

Smarter Reporting with Excel

For many finance teams, Excel is still the reporting tool of choice, making Smart Excel Reporting one of the most exciting additions in this release.

Available through an Early Adopter Programme in the UK, it allows users to create reports directly in Excel while maintaining a live connection to Sage Intacct data. This means less time exporting spreadsheets and more confidence that reports are based on up-to-date information.

One important consideration is API usage. Excel Reporting uses API calls, so customers accepted onto the Early Adopter Programme should monitor their monthly API call usage to ensure they remain within their available allowance. Monitoring usage in-house is recommended as best practice, particularly for organisations with high reporting volumes.

Sage has also introduced new reporting comparison options and performance improvements to provide greater insight into business performance.

Small Changes, Big Impact

R3 delivers practical enhancements that help finance teams work more efficiently and focus on higher-value tasks.

AI-powered 3-way matching in Accounts Payable reduces manual checking by automatically comparing invoices, purchase orders and receipts, while enhanced Custom Approvals provide greater control over purchasing workflows.

For Accounts Receivable, new Payment Reminders support proactive credit control and improved cash collection. Additional productivity enhancements, including bulk posting of AR invoices and adjustments, invoice previews for billing groups, and expanded email customisation options, help streamline processes, improve visibility and create a more professional customer experience.

Enhancements Across Core Financials

Sage continues to invest in the functionality customers use every day.

Updates to Fixed Assets make it easier to correct errors, with the ability to reverse disposals and revert summarised depreciation postings. General Ledger improvements simplify setup and provide quicker access to journal approvals and templates.

Organisations operating across multiple entities will also benefit from new multi-entity and multi-currency capabilities within Projects.

What This Means for itas Customers

The key message from R3 is simple: Sage is continuing to invest in helping finance teams achieve more with less.

Whether it’s reducing manual effort through automation, improving reporting with live Excel integration, or strengthening financial insight through AI, the latest release offers several enhancements that could deliver real value to your business.
